Blij; A Dutch Adjective pronounced: /blɛi̯/ meaning: Happy, Glad.

Founded and run by Helen Kalmijn, blij is an artist and design studio situated in the beautiful surroundings of Scotland's Trossach National Park. Inspired by nature, our work is a creative process of materials and making, their properties and processes.

We we endeavour  to find solutions to make work that is a meaningful response to the contextual/social environment it engages.  As part of the process of creating work we are constantly involved in the journey of experimetnation, developing ideas and the many varied paths they can lead to.

The process of makng is a fundamental concept of our work.  The creative aspects of both traditional methods and current technologies provides a foundation for our work and development.  We thoroughly enjoy creating and making, which is reflected in our work.
